Good-Enough Map Images

Right now, there is no simple way to obtain a screenshot that covers an entire map. The goal is to obtain an image with nodes, paths, bases (if any), and victory nodes (if any). In addition, the image should not contain Morganas fleet icons, player fleet icons, Belle chibis (shown when a player fleet is between nodes), any part of the UI, or selection highlighting on any node.

The screen capture part of task may be performed on mobile devices or emulators, however, photo editing on anything smaller than a tablet may prove challenging.

  1. Start Victory Belles.
  2. Either use a fleet with no aircraft or remove any aircraft from the fleet so that the aircraft range circle will not appear.
  3. Upon entering the map, try to center it as much as possible.
  4. Take a screenshot (iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac). If it's not possible to obtain the entire map in a single screenshot, take multiple. In this case, images will have to be aligned/stitched together. The final image should be as close to square as possible.
  5. Move the fleet off the spawn node so that the node may be screencapped in an empty state.
  6. Ideally, all other nodes will have been screencapped in an empty state, aside from any weather effects. If not, move your fleet/bait the Morganas until a clear screenshot of the node in question is possible.
  7. Now comes the fun part: attaching the images together into something resembling a square. Paths between nodes are often the easiest to align on.
  8. Once the image is finalized, save a second version of it.
  9. Proceed through the map, noting where the player fleet spawned and where Morganas spawn. Note that if Morganas are seen moving into a node as a player fleet arrives, they did not spawn at that node. See the below example from The Storm That Shouldn't Be. The player will fight the Morganas at the upper-right node, but they spawned at the lower-left node marked with a red dot/arrow.

  10. The final product should look like The Storm That Shouldn't Be's "Spawn" map. Yes, this contains the scouting circle and will eventually be replaced. Green for the player fleet spawn dot, and red for Morgana spawns.

  11. For extra persnickety points, these are the colors used for the dots in MSPaint on Windows 10.
