Nenohi is a Japanese Belle available at the 1939 start of the game. She is one of five starter Belles for a Japanese-aligned player (she is not one of the two one exclusive to game backers).

Character Information

History

Nenohi was the second of six Hatsuharu-class destroyers designed by Japan to be a destroyer that had the firepower to match a Fubuki-class or Akatsuki-class while being cheaper. They could not have their cake and eat it too, as the Hatsuharu-class was very top-heavy while having poor structural integrity meaning they would be very unstable. Following the Tomozuru Incident where the Chidori-class torpedo boat Tomozuru capsized in rough weather because of instability problems stemming from the ship being designed to have heavy guns while having a light body to skirt around naval treaties. This caused the IJN to modify Nenohi and several other ships that had similar issues to improve stability. When World War II began Nenohi saw service mostly in Southeast Asia where she participated in the invasion of French Indochina, was made flagship of Destroyer Division 21, and invaded the Dutch East Indies and was a part of Operation AL. Nenohi ran out of luck and on July 4, 1942 she was sank by a torpedo launched from the American submarine USS Triton around Agattu Island taking 188 men down with her.
